A manager for the official Codex desktop app
Codex App Manager is an independent open-source project that detects the local official Codex desktop app, then helps plan installation, incremental updates, clean uninstallation, and one-click launch.
Shuanova provides this bilingual introduction, a basic getting-started guide, and navigation to the project's official GitHub pages. Shuanova does not repackage, modify, host, or distribute the software.
What the project currently offers
- Detect the local Codex installation and plan install, update, uninstall, or launch actions.
- Use incremental updates on macOS with signature verification and rollback support.
- Support Windows MSIX and portable installation workflows, including a post-install health check.
- Keep the Manager itself up to date through its updater, with GitHub as the official fallback.
- Offer system-language support, including Chinese, English, and additional languages.
Useful when you work with Codex regularly
- People who want one place to check and launch their official Codex desktop installation.
- Windows or macOS users who prefer an explicit install and update flow over manual file handling.
- Teams or individuals who want to review a proposed action before software changes are made.
Start from the official project page
- Confirm your operating system and processor architecture before choosing a release asset.
- Read the latest release notes, the repository README, and the MIT license on GitHub.
- Download only from the official GitHub Release page linked below; Shuanova does not host installers.
- Plan enough disk space and administrator access if your system policy requires it.
A careful installation flow
- Open the official GitHub Release page using the button below.
- Read the release notes and select the asset that matches your operating system and architecture.
- Download the installer from GitHub, then compare its SHA-256 hash with SHA256SUMS from the same release.
- Run the installer and follow the project's current instructions. After installation, open the Manager and review its proposed Codex action before confirming it.
For Windows, the project documents Get-FileHash as a way to verify SHA-256. Do not rely on a file name alone.
Review before the Manager changes anything
- Open Codex App Manager and allow it to inspect the local Codex installation state.
- Review the install, update, or uninstall plan it presents; do not confirm an action you do not understand.
- Let the Manager complete the selected action, then use its launch option to open Codex.
- Use the project's official issue tracker or documentation if an update or health check reports a problem.
Short answers before you download
Does Shuanova provide the installer?
No. The buttons on this page only open the official GitHub Release page or the official source repository.
Is this the official OpenAI Codex application?
No. It is an independent manager for the official Codex desktop app. The project states that it is not affiliated with or endorsed by OpenAI or Microsoft.
Which file should I download?
Choose the asset listed in the latest official Release for your operating system and processor architecture, then verify the published SHA-256 hash.
Expect a SmartScreen prompt on current Windows installers
According to the project's README, current Windows installers are not Authenticode-signed. Windows SmartScreen may therefore show a warning on first launch.
The project's Tauri updater signature verifies downloaded bytes, but it is not the same as Windows publisher trust. Check the current code-signing policy and SHA256SUMS on the official release before deciding whether to run an installer.
Independent MIT-licensed open-source software
The repository identifies its license as MIT. Its source, release assets, notices, and any current distribution conditions remain governed by the original project and its maintainers.
Codex App Manager is published by the Wangnov GitHub account. Shuanova is only providing an editorial guide and official-link navigation, not authorship, support, or a modified distribution.
